How do we arrange the In-Cottage dining service?

You can order Nicky’s fabulous home-cooked meals in advance by contacting Broomhill Manor or you can email Nicky directly. You can also order during your stay (minimum 24 hours’ notice required), although for large orders, we would recommend ordering in advance.  All meals are prepared to order using fresh local ingredients and served to your cottage in oven-proof dishes with cooking instructions. It couldn’t be easier to enjoy delicious home-cooked food in the comfort of your cottage, with minimal effort!

We send you Nicky’s latest menu 6 weeks before your holiday – many items are such favourites that they tend to stay on the menu irrespective of the season. Here is a sample menu which also has a selection of puddings and vegetarian options.

The Local Area

Can you walk to the beach from Broomhill Manor?

Yes you can and you will be spoilt for choice with all the sandy beaches here – a beach for every day of the week! Both Summerleaze and Crooklets beaches are within a 25-minute walk from Broomhill – as is Bude town itself. If you prefer to drive, it will normally take you 5 minutes to drive to the beach/town and there are large carparks at both beaches.  It is likely to take longer to drive to the beach on sunny summer days, whereas, walking is not subject to summer delays!

Are there places to eat out near Broomhill Manor?

Yes! Since moving to Bude 12 years ago, we have seen the variety and quality of restaurants grow each year. There are now many excellent places to eat out – whether looking for something special, such as an elegant meal at The Beach; something simple, such as Fish & Chips to eat on the beach, or something in between.

Most places are family friendly – some are dog-friendly too. There are many takeaways and some local restaurants will deliver – and don’t forget your gas BBQ or Nicky’s home-cooked meals which are prepared to order and delivered to your cottage ready for the oven! Many dining options available to you!

Is there a pub nearby? Can we walk there?

There are two good local pubs within walking distance – both serving good food and both child and dog-friendly.

The closest is the Preston Gate which you can walk to within 15 minutes, down the bridal path to Poughill. The pub is fairly small with a limited selection of food, but they offer a very friendly atmosphere, sometimes with live music and the menu incudes many pub favourites such as fish & chips, ham & eggs, and a weekly steak night.

The Tree Inn is slightly further away (20 minutes’ walk). It is an interesting pub, full of character and with a history that goes back to the English Civil War. The gastro menu changes regularly based on seasonally available ingredients and their Sunday lunch is an institution in these parts! You can also dine or enjoy a drink in their lovely courtyard – perfect on a sunny day!

Both have live music most weeks and regular special events.

Are there any local tourist attractions?

Yes, there are many local attractions in and around Bude and within 30 minutes’ drive from Broomhill Manor. See our Days Out page for more information.

How far are you from the Eden Project?

The Eden project is 40 miles from Broomhill Manor. It will generally take just over an hour to get there (subject to summer traffic!) It is a good day out, although very busy in the summer, especially on days when the weather looks a little mixed!
